Helicoprion: turning items into blueprints
Everything on this page comes from our own testing on the cluster: 1,200 tries with our engine tools, 23 eligibility checks, and real conversions through the Heli's own menu, plus 51 failures with a player in game. If we haven't tested it, it isn't here. We repeated the engine tests on ASA 93.38: the 1,200 tries, the eligibility checks, the level math, the 90% cap and the craft times. Their numbers here come from that re-run. What we saw with a player in game is from our first round on 93.19: the real conversions through the Heli's own menu, the 51 failures, the Success Rate label on the stat panel, Convert To Blueprint staying hidden on a fresh tame, and the locked inventory while it works. The Helicoprion makes blueprints; the Tinkering Desk combines them.
Convert To Blueprint
How long it takes
10 seconds for Primitive, 40 for Journeyman, 60 for Ascendant. That is 10 seconds per tier step. The Heli's inventory is locked while it works.
| Tier | Time |
|---|---|
| Primitive | 10 seconds |
| Journeyman | 40 seconds |
| Ascendant | 60 seconds |
Success Rate
Success is the Heli's own stat, shown as Success Rate on its stat panel. A fresh tame is at 0% and doesn't even offer Convert To Blueprint until you put a level into Success Rate. Each wild level in Success Rate adds 1 point. Each level you add after taming adds 0.2 points. The stat is capped at 90%. So the best Heli in the game loses one item in ten.
| Wild points in Success Rate | Success |
|---|---|
| 0 | 0% |
| 25 | 25% |
| 50 | 50% |
| 75 | 75% |
| 90 or more | 90% |
5 tamed levels add 1 point, so 50 tamed levels add 10 points. Tamed levels are one fifth as good as wild ones. Once the stat is at 90%, more levels change nothing.
We measured conversions with our engine tools, setting the Heli's stat directly:
| Success Rate | Measured success | Tries |
|---|---|---|
| 0% | 0% | 200 |
| 25% | 25.0% | 200 |
| 50% | 55.3% | 400 |
| 75% | 79.5% | 200 |
| 100% (engine only, not reachable in game) | 100% | 200 |
100% is not reachable in game. The cap is 90%.
Failure
Failure destroys the item. Nothing comes back: no refund, no consolation item. 51 real-player failures through the Heli's own menu, and nothing came back.
Your own crafting skill does nothing here. Only the Heli's stat counts.
What converts
- Any tier from Primitive to Ascendant. There is no quality cap.
- Weapons, tools, armor and saddles.
- Full durability only. Worn items are refused until repaired.
- Loot only. The game refuses anything a survivor crafted, so you can't turn your own crafts into blueprints.
- Not Tek.
- Not Cursed.
- Not stacks. A stack of two is refused.
- Not resources or consumables. The game refuses resources and consumables outright.
- Not something that is already a blueprint.
Also blacklisted by name: Mek backpacks and the Mek transformer, the Gene Scanner, the Lasso, the Fishing Rod.
How to use it
Tame high levels. More wild levels means more points, and some of them land in Success Rate. Once it's tamed, the stat panel shows the percentage, and our Dino Stat Extractor tells you how many wild levels went into it. Level Success Rate with your tamed levels, five levels per point. Expect to lose 1 in 10 at best, and 1 in 2 on a 50-point tame. Only feed it loot you'd gamble.
Then craft from the blueprint with crafting skill, or combine blueprints at the Tinkering Desk.
Myths
You can get to 100%. You can't. The stat is capped at 90%, so the best Heli in the game still loses one item in ten.
Failed conversions refund something. They don't. 51 real-player failures through the Heli's own menu, and nothing came back.
High tiers can't be converted. They can. Ascendant converts the same as every other tier. There is no quality cap.
Your crafting skill helps. It doesn't. Only the Heli's Success Rate counts.
Tamed levels are as good as wild ones. They aren't. Each wild level in Success Rate adds 1 point. Each tamed level adds 0.2, so tamed levels are one fifth as good.
